How Chiropractic Foot & Ankle Pain Treatment Helps Edmonton Patients
Your feet are the foundation for much of the movement that happens above them. When you walk, run, climb stairs, or exercise, the feet, ankles, knees, hips, and spine all work together.
That’s why effective treatment involves more than simply looking at where it hurts.
Our approach may include:
- Comprehensive assessment and diagnosis
- Personalized treatment plan
- Gentle foot and ankle joint adjustments or mobilization when appropriate
- Assessment of foot and ankle mechanics
- Evaluation of the knees, hips, pelvis, and spine
- Soft tissue therapy
- Mobility and flexibility work
- Strengthening and rehabilitation exercises
- Balance and ankle-stability exercises
- Footwear and activity recommendations
- Assessment for custom foot orthotics when appropriate
Treatment is tailored to your individual needs and examination findings. The goal is to reduce pain, improve function, and help you return to the activities that are important to you.

Frequently Asked Questions
Chiropractors assess and treat problems involving joints, muscles, and nerves throughout the body, including the feet and ankles.
Depending on the cause of your symptoms, treatment may include foot or ankle adjustments, joint mobilization, soft tissue therapy, exercises, and recommendations to improve mobility and stability.
A thorough examination is important because not every type of foot or ankle pain should be treated the same way.
Chiropractic care may be useful during recovery from certain ankle sprains, particularly when stiffness, reduced joint movement, weakness, or recurring instability remains after the initial injury.
Treatment may include restoring ankle and foot mobility, addressing tight or injured muscles, improving spine and nerve function, and exercises designed to improve strength, balance, and stability.
More serious injuries may require imaging, bracing, or referral for additional medical assessment.
Flat feet don’t necessarily cause symptoms. However, when the arches drop excessively during standing or walking, the way forces travel through the feet, legs, and spine can change.
For some people, this may contribute to foot or ankle discomfort and may also affect the knees, hips, or lower back.
That’s why we assess the way your feet function as part of your overall movement rather than looking at the painful area in isolation.
Not everyone with foot or ankle pain needs orthotics.
Custom foot orthotics may be recommended when an assessment identifies problems with arch support or foot mechanics that may be contributing to your symptoms.
We assess your feet, posture, movement, footwear, and symptoms before determining whether orthotics are appropriate for you.
Numbness or tingling can have several causes. Sometimes symptoms originate from irritation or compression of nerves in the lower back or leg, while other medical conditions can also cause altered sensation in the feet.
Persistent, worsening, or unexplained numbness should be properly assessed to determine the underlying cause.
This depends on what’s causing your foot or ankle pain, how long you’ve had the problem, whether there has been an injury, and your activity goals.
After your assessment, we’ll explain our findings and recommend a treatment plan based on your individual situation.
We provide direct billing for most insurance plans. If direct billing is not available, you can submit your receipt for reimbursement.
Please provide your insurance information before your appointment if you’d like us to direct bill.
