Custom Foot Orthotics
Your feet form the foundation of your entire skeleton. They support you during standing, walking, and running. If your arches in your feet become unstable (i.e.. flat feet) and out of its normal alignment, it creates instability and misalignments in the joints above the feet including the knees, hips, and entire spine. This creates extra stress on your joints and soft tissue structures (muscles, ligaments, and nerves) which can lead to postural problems, foot pain, knee pain, hip pain, low back and neck pain, and even osteoarthritis.
Placing an insert into your shoes that is custom made (custom foot orthotic) to support and realign your arches in your feet, helps to support, stabilize, and realign all your joints above your feet. This reduces the stress and load on your joints and spine, and helps keep your joints healthier, and creates better posture.
We often prescribe orthotics during your treatment plan to help improve better body alignment (posture) while we are adjusting you. The adjustments realign the joints in your body and the orthotics help to hold your adjustments in place. This helps to speed up your healing time and helps to prevent future health problems.
The custom foot orthotics we use in our office are manufactured by a company called Foot Levelers.

Vitamins and Supplements
You can’t supplement yourself to health. It’s important to get most of your nutrients from food. However, if you’re not getting proper diversity in the foods you consume, you’re at risk for developing a deficiency in essential nutrients. There are also a few vitamins and minerals that are hard to get from food even if you are eating well. Vitamins and minerals are crucial to make your body and mind work optimally and to help prevent chronic illness.
A few supplements you should consider taking on a daily basis are Vitamin D (fall through winter seasons), Vitamin K2, and Magnesium. Other supplements you might need are based on your health profile. Have you been tested to determine if you’re deficient in particular vitamins or minerals? Are you eating three servings of cold water fatty fish (eg. salmon, mackerel, herring, and sardines) per week? Are you eating organ meat regularly? Are you vegan or vegetarian? If so, you should be supplementing with the correct forms of Vitamin B12. Is your gut even functioning properly to absorb vitamins and minerals? Have you had your gut assessed thoroughly to determine that?
